Beverley Jane paints images that are welcoming. They are colorful, but peaceful, images of architecture. Focusing on doorways and porches surrounded with gardens and pots full of blooms, she captures the play of sunlight and shadows. Beverley Jane especially enjoys the seasonal colors, spring’s new blossoms or autumn’s changing foliage.
Beverley grew up in western New York. In eighth grade, she began private art lessons with a local oil painter Roberta Baer. Her love for art expanded under guidance from high school art teachers. She studied at Columbus College of Art and Design and earned a Bachelor of Science in Medical Illustration from The Ohio State University. Richmond, Virginia, has been her home for almost twenty-five years.
After working exclusively in watercolors for over fifteen years, she returned to oil painting. She has developed a double primary palette over the past five years of oil painting, using warm and cool versions of the three primary colors, along with white.
Her work has won several awards, including ‘Best of Show’ for her oil paintings at the Fredericksburg Art Show. Beverley hopes her images remind you of “someplace where the sun is warm, the shadows are comforting, and the porch is welcoming.” She accepts commissions for paintings of her patrons’ favorite places.
