Go beyond technique and create a stronger composition!

Consider understanding that the fundamentals of good, well-balanced design in art the skeleton upon which you build your painting or drawing. Having knowledge of key foundations and principles that have been used for centuries by the most renowned artists will allow your creativity to soar.

This workshop will immerse students in in-depth exploration, through an image-detailed lecture, of those fundamentals, as well as an explanation of how to avoid the pitfalls of imbalance in art. Examples of the instructor's own art, based upon the fundamentals presented, will further demonstrate the process of building a well-balanced composition.

The second day will focus on hands-on demonstrations of compositional design, both by instructor and students. Students will make use of their own reference material and will also be asked to bring at least one previously sketched-out preliminary compositional design for critique and discussion. The aim of the two-day workshop is for all students to leave with a better understanding of how to make their art stronger, more appealing, and constructed to stand out from the rest.
