You'll discover simple tricks to make it work. Fee: $75, or $70 per person if paid by April 16. Participants should bring a 12-inch ruler, pencil, eraser, sharpener, and paper. Spend six days in Nags Head, North Carolina, practicing your drawing skills with soft pastels in the great outdoors! You will learn the following:

• how to photograph the ocean, beach, and sound successfully so you can use your photos as reference material

• how to draw from your photographs of the beach, ocean, and sound

• how to blend colors to create a glowing sunset

• how to use an alcohol wash to create a landscape painting

If you’re already familiar with soft pastels and would like to improve your landscape-drawing skills, this workshop is perfect for you. Depending on weather, we will work outside each day for a few hours, either on the Atlantic Coast or on the Sound Side.  We will also spend time indoors learning skills to put into use in our plein air work.
