Herb Pulliam is a Southern artist currently residing in Richmond, Virginia. He was born in Appomattox, Virginia, near the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Many of his atmospheric and ethereal fine art paintings have been influenced by the beautiful vistas of Virginia. Throughout his childhood, Herb was awed by the sun’s effect and developed a respect for its influence on an individual’s mood. He is an artist impacted by nature and its subliminal power on the human psyche. As he states, “My art reflects the memories of sunlight as various stages in my life.” These words describe a lifelong relationship Herb has with his love for nature and all of its wonders, which flow onto his canvas from his subconscious. These paintings actually depict scenes that made an impression on him during his travels. Melding emotional imagery and recalling the feelings of each experience developed what is now his current style.
Herb shares an exhibition space at Crossroads Art Center with his grandson Collin Sandler, a ceramicist.
