Tim White

Tim White is a musician, recording artist, radio air personality, event promoter, music preservationist, and host of the PBS concert series, “Song of the Mountains.” He is a native of central Appalachia and a resident of Blountville, Tennessee.

Tim White was instrumental in the founding of the Appalachian Cultural Music Association (ACMA), a nonprofit organization promoting the music and lifestyle of the southern Appalachians.

In 1986, White painted the now well known 30x100' State Street mural in Bristol, VA/TN. The mural is a tribute to the Bristol Sessions of 1927, widely recognized as the first recording of country music. He recently completed an 80' mural in Marion, Virginia, depicting the area’s musical heritage. He also paints on canvas.

White was also instrumental in the founding of the Birthplace of Country Music Alliance, taking the music to the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, DC, and performing there with his band, the VW Boys, among other artists from the region. The VW Boys have also performed at The Kennedy Center and The Grand Ole Opry. His weekly bluegrass radio program, The Tim White Bluegrass Show, is syndicated to more than 60 stations across the eastern U.S.
