Theodora Miller is a contemporary artist based in Richmond, Virginia. While creative expression has been an indispensable part of her life, she literally fell into abstract expressionism. A split-second fall resulted in a traumatic brain injury that forced her into isolation and cognitive rest. Artful living took on new meaning; it emerged as an essential part of healing.
Today, Theodora’s artistic process continues to be exploratory, influenced by mood, surroundings, and life events. She rarely starts with an image in mind and works on several pieces at a time, acting on impulsive ideas. Layers of under painting reveal what the next step will be. The result is soulful creations of colorful, gestural marks, and luscious texture. Painting is her sanctuary.
Theodora’s work has been featured in various art shows, Fresh Paint Magazine, the Richmond Symphony Designer House, and is found in homes across the U.S. and abroad. Her current adventure is exploring the intersection of fresh paint with recycled paint chips to create mixed media collages, aptly titled “Pieces of Me” and “Good Cheer.”
