T.L. Shaver is a self-taught fine artist specializing in alkyd paintings. He states that he is as interested in painting things as he is interested in painting the effect of light on things. He started painting in his teens as a hobby. In the 1990s, he developed the urge pursue his art seriously . Working more than 80 hours a week left no time for formal training, so he read every book he could find. From there, passion took over.
In 1992, he showed his work publicly for the first time at a Borders bookstore in Richmond, Virginia. During the one month that his work was there, he sold 31 paintings. Since then his work is represented primarily by Crossroads Art Center in Richmond. He has had solo shows and won several ‘Best in Show’ awards, providing the confidence and desire to bring more of his work to the general public (and not just the art world).
T.L.’s work is in numerous private collections throughout the United States.
