VOLUNTEERING FOR ART FOR THE JOURNEY
Art for The Journey makes extensive use of volunteers in its programs. Besides keeping costs down, we believe that dedicated volunteers increase our capacity for personal engagement with our clients. In addition, our volunteer program offers an opportunity for gifted and generous individuals to learn about the needs of special populations and experience both personal growth and a deeper sense of purpose in their lives. Both Artists and non-artists volunteer, with the mission of bringing well-being and healing to adults and children, through creative expression as the primary goal. (Delivering paint and encouragement with a smile!).
Our volunteer program offers training, support and inspiring relationships. We currently partner with the VCU ASPiRE program, to nurture volunteers in our “Opening Minds Through Art” program, as well as have many community volunteers through HandsOnRVA! Artists from the Bon Air Artist Association have volunteered, as well as board members from the VMFA. We are delighted to have a range of people around Richmond support us in various ways through out the year. We have received help from over 100 volunteers to date! Thank you to all!
