Anne Piland
Anne is drawn to color.
The painting process is for her largely an intuitive one: usually an abstract concept the takes form out of its own energy. That energy, rather than the concept or method, is the real power, the real inspiration, behind her work. She trusts it, and paint to its rhythm.
When you trust that energy it means you can be challenged by the moment such as a mood shift or the spark of an idea. Anne’s intention is to react to that moment through her fascination with light and color, creating new relationships between them by layering or by juxtaposition. Anne’s hope is that these relationships, born out of the moment, provoke in the observer the same shapes of thought, of feeling, that she had while painting.
Anne’s art has been collected by major corporations such as Capital One, Federal Reserve Bank, and Media General
