Hillside Villa On Lake Como was inspired by a recent trip to Italy, including picturesque Lake Como. I observed this hillside scene on a morning walk near the town of Varenna, where I was staying. It was beautiful to observe in person, and I was grateful to have my painting equipment. I did small sketches on location, and used them as references upon my return to Richmond to created this studio painting.
