Cyane Lowden
Cyane Lowden has been creating fine art images of landscapes and seascapes
since the early 80’s. She began her photographic career in the traditional
manner printing sepia toned silver prints in the darkroom. Her primary interest is
in the empty spaces within the scenes of a composition. She particularly likes
working with the atmosphere – the silence of space.
With the advent of the digital age, she turned to printing her photographs on
archival paper with pigment inks. She has also employed new methods in
creating her images. Some photographic works have resulted in more colorful
painterly designs, some with only a little color, and some continue as traditional
toned images. All the photographs are produced in limited editions.
Her work has been included in numerous exhibitions and many private and
public collections such as Captial One, Altria, and Saks at Short Pump. She had
been represented at the Glave-Kocen Gallery in Richmond, VA and The Blue
Heron Gallery on Cape Cod, MA until they closed.
Lowden has been an independent student in the photographic arts taking
workshops at the Maine Photographic Workshops, VMFA, and VCU.
