Jennifer Harmer
Jennifer Harmer is the daughter of immigrants from England. She was born in Upstate New York and has also lived in Massachusetts. While living in New England, Jennifer studied watercolor painting with a local artist.
After making her home in Richmond, Virginia, Jennifer continued studying art at the VMFA, Glen Allen Cultural Arts Center, and the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, using various mediums, including colored pencils, charcoal, dry and oil pastels, and watercolors.
Starting in 2018, Jennifer has been studying with local artist Diana Robinson. Now using oil paint exclusively, her focus has been on English landscapes.
“In England, you are never more than 75 miles from the sea! The result is a unique, stirring light on the landscape. I am motivated to create a restful but energizing visual place for the viewer to recharge. Green and natural areas are wonderfully grounding. Because of my heritage and the variety of landscapes, I enjoy painting English pastoral and water scenes.”
Jennifer’s paintings hang in homes in Virginia and New York State, and in the medical building of MCV in Richmond, Virginia.
