Jody Bryan
Jody Bryan is retired and lives with her husband in Powhatan, VA. She originally grew up in south Florida. Jody developed a love for art when she was a teenager and visited the Louvre Museum in Paris with her mother. “My mom was a talented painter. I’d like to think I inherited her eye for composition and color even though it’s in a different medium.”
With more than 20 years of experience in beading and jewelry design, Jody’s self taught style unites a variety of techniques including bead embroidery, bead crochet, and peyote stitch.
Jody’s Lava Stone beaded collar won 1st Place in the 3D category in CAC’s January 2024 All Media Exhibition.
“There is nothing more pleasing than to create a thing of beauty and know someone else will enjoy wearing it as much as I have enjoyed making it.”
Jody Bryan met her best friend and business partner, Suzanne Peters while working at the same insurance company. They enjoy seeking out the perfect elements for their designs. Some of these elements include Swarovski crystals, semi-precious stones, pearls, Czech glass beads, Raku cabochons, lampwork glass beads and Japanese seed beads. In addition, they often incorporate silver, gold and copper components in their designs.
Together their beaded creations go by the name of Treat Yourself Designs and were featured in the museum shop at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts for over ten years.
