John Bryan
John Bryan’s fish paintings have been featured in such publications as Fly Fisherman Magazine, Gray’s Sporting Journal, and the landmark book, America’s Favorite Flies. His writings about fish have been featured in hundreds of publications ranging from Sports Illustrated to Field & Stream to Writer’s Digest. He has authored several fishing books including Take Me Fishing (Skyhorse, 2009) which has a Foreword by President Jimmy Carter and an Introduction by former Executive Editor of The New York Times Howell Raines. His career has included 23 years at the internationally lauded Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts where he was Associate Dean, and 6 years as founder and President of CultureWorks, the organization that champions the arts in Richmond, Virginia. His honors include the national Selena Roberts Ottum Award presented by the National Endowment for the Arts and Americans for the Arts. His education includes degrees from Davidson, Vanderbilt, and The City College of New York. (All proceeds that the artist receives from sales are donated for autism research, education, and service.)
