“The Ides of Spring” is my recollection of a festival featuring spring dancers in the Tidal Basin of Washington DC during the blooming of the Japanese cherry trees.

Artist's Statement:

With a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Wake Forest University and a focus on studio art at Old Dominion University, I started my career in the arts as a Graphic Designer. I soon returned to school to receive my Master of Graphic Design at North Carolina State University, working as an Art Director, Vice President and Creative Director in marketing firms both in Richmond, VA and in Washington, DC. Furthermore, I taught graduate school at Virginia Commonwealth University's Brandcenter.

After taking a break to raise my children, I returned to the arts by focusing on my photography. My photography work became the backbone for a move into creating collages, drawings and paintings to further establish my artistic style and enhance the narrative in my pieces. My paintings have an illustrative and/or dreamlike quality, exerting an emotional response through vivid color and texture. Layers provide depth and meaning to my works. My subjects often derive from observations found in my daily life- from my friends and family, to travels, gardening and wildlife.

Currently I reside and paint in Glen Allen, Virginia. My work can be found at www.eroclark.com and on Instagram @eroclarkart.
