Artist Statement:
Oz Nami is a 36-year-old Israeli woodwork artist with a background in electrical engineering, particularly in digital image formation. From an early age, Oz was influenced by his father's love of art, which instilled in him a deep passion for creativity. His art combines traditional woodworking with digital pixel art, creating modern interpretations of iconic works. Each of Oz's pieces is meticulously crafted from wood, incorporating hundreds to thousands of photo pixels, with vibrant colors that bring the artwork to life. After his father, Haim, passed away, Oz found solace in art, using his father's teachings to develop a unique and joyful approach to creation. This process has helped him heal and reconnect with life. A signature element of Oz's self-portraits is the representation of his eyes—one of which he has been nearly blind in since birth. This contrast between light and darkness symbolizes the modern digital world's disconnect from real-life experiences.
