Inspired by a recent trip to Italy, Late Afternoon On Lake Como depicts the hillside town of Varenna, and the golden glow created by the late afternoon sun. It was beautiful to observe in person, and I was grateful to have my painting equipment. I created small sketches on location, and used them as references upon my return to Richmond to create this studio painting.
