Tsveti Sowers
Tsveti Sowers is a Bulgarian- American painter who lives in Richmond, VA, with her husband and two children. Tsveti's life growing up in Europe has greatly influenced her artwork. Her love for art started at an early age. When she was twelve Tsveti started attending after school art classes in her home town Silistra, Bulgaria. She was encouraged to continue her art education by her art teachers there. Later on Tsveti attended the University of "Angel Kanchev" in Silistra, where she studied under the classic approach by her teacher Jordan Kolev, a well respected sculptor in Silistra.
When Tsveti moved to the United States in 2006, new opportunities opened up for her. She had a chance to work with and learn from other artists who love and work in the same painting approach, including David Tanner, a representational painter based in Richmond, VA , and other contemporary artists like Dawn Whitelaw, Maggie Siner and Anne Blair Brown. Some of the great painters that influence her work include Sorolla, Sargent, and Zorn.
Generally, Tsveti enjoys plein air painting and spending time in her studio setting up and painting still lifes. Over the recent years she has developed strong interest in painting portraits. Tsveti has a passionate appreciation for painting from life and her inspiration comes from the ever changing light.
