This watercolor painting of the James River is one of the beautiful views I see when I am walking through Pony Pasture in Richmond. The light and shadow on the rocks and stairs are especially inspiring.
Artist's Statement:
Watercolor is a magical medium, especially to capture the beauty and wonder of nature -- trees, rivers, the ocean, mountains, roads, pathways, and more. I have always loved to draw and paint, but between a demanding career and motherhood, I never dedicated myself fully to my art practice until recently. Since retiring in my new hometown of Richmond, Va., in 2021, I enjoy painting daily in my studio, learning through art classes online and in person, connecting with new artist friends, and immersing myself in places and spaces that make me feel inspired and happy.
