Nancy Tucker
Early interest in drawing and painting led to a degree in Art Education from Radford University, followed by several years of teaching art in Fairfax and Hanover county public schools. Additional training has been through workshops and classes with local and nationally recognized artists. Previous teaching includes classes at the Hanover Arts and Activities Center, the Glen Allen Cultural Arts Center and at her home studio. Current teaching is at Cedarfield Retirement Community in Henrico County, Virginia.
After previous extensive use of watercolor, oil and pastel are her current primary mediums. Subject matter is varied with the landscape, both local and places visited, and animals being favorites. Reflections of sensitivity to surroundings creating a subjective response to draw the viewer into the painting is important. Variations on a single theme are frequently employed as avenues of exploration.
Membership in James River Art League, Virginia Plein-Air-Painters, and the Mid Atlantic Pastel Society provide additional avenues to exhibit. After living in rural Hanover and Louisa, she now lives in Glen Allen--back to Hanover with her cat Toby and the dog Opy.
