Testing the Waters
Acrylic and Oil on Gallery Canvas
24 x 24 x 1.5"
$990
In "Testing the Waters" I started with my typical interwoven, overlapping geometric shapes, but I worked toward a softer palette and a more harmonious configuration of pattern and texture which ultimately seem to present a feeling of calm, flowing movement.
Artist Statement:
I focus on creating pieces that evoke emotion and enhance the atmosphere of a space. Earth tones feel organic and peaceful; bright, warm colors cheer up a space; shades of neon are playful; a touch of metallic can feel rich.
When I begin to paint, I often revisit images that I find intriguing. I may look over archives of abstracted photos of nature, architecture and objects, where I’ve captured an image in a unique way. Or I may browse a digital sketchbook where I’ve quickly rendered color and form combinations that are striking to me. My paintings emerge from these images and a constant exploration of paints, mediums, tools and applications that help me achieve the quality I’m searching for, in a fresh and hopefully compelling way.
